Local Action Group "TUCHOLA FORESTS" (Polish: Lokalna Grupa Działania "BORY TUCHOLSKIE") was formed on 2 February 2006 as a part of LEADER+ Program for Poland.
LAG "TUCHOLA FORESTS" is a group of local associations (its members are mainly legal persons which is the main difference in comparison to standard associations).
There were 5 associations which set up the LAG:There are 59 members now (November 2008).
LAG "Tuchola FORESTS" operates in the Tuchola region - namely Cekcyn, Gostycyn, Kesowo, Lubiewo, Sliwice and Tuchola communes, as well as in the Swiecie region in Lniano, Osie and Swiekatowo communes. The two regions are located in the north of Poland in Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province. The area is the cradle of history, culture and geography of the Tuchola Forests (Polish: Bory Tucholskie) - the largest forest area in Poland.
The President of the LAG is Ms Magdalena Kurpinowicz.
The main aim of LAG "TUCHOLA FORESTS" is to influence the development of the Tuchola Forests region by using its potential, increasing its competitiveness as a living place and a good place to start business by its inhabitants, as well as investors from outside the region. It also aims at activating and making local societies cooperate.
The most important aims are:
To fulfil the aims the LAG collaborates with local artists, culture animators, business people, other associations, local authorities and the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province authorities in Toruń.
